SIX experts from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will be part of a forensic team that the country is sending to Thailand to help identify Filipinos who may have died there when killer tsunamis struck Sunday.

The team from the NBI will identify the bodies by getting and analyzing DNA samples and studying dental records and fingerprints, according to NBI director Reynaldo Wycoco.

The team from the bureau who would fly to Phuket in Thailand would be composed of two forensic specialists, two dentists, and two fingerprint experts.

A GMA Network Flash report on Thursday said that a three-man team was to be sent but that the NBI was working to add more members to the team.

Wycoco has instructed the team to check the NBI's files for the fingerprint records of the Filipinos listed in the initial list of fatalities.

He had also directed the NBI team to trace the said fatalities' parents or siblings and get tissue samples from them that would be used for the DNA analysis.
