By Joel Francis Guinto

THE REMAINING 34 members of the Philippine humanitarian contingent will be back in the country on Monday, a spokesman for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) told Thursday.

The soldiers are still in Kuwait, waiting to be booked on flights to Manila, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Lucero said.

"Tentatively, they will arrive on Monday," Lucero said, without giving further details.

The 51-member humanitarian team pulled out of Iraq earlier than its August 20 schedule to save the life of truck driver Angelo de la Cruz, who was held hostage by Iraqi insurgents. De la Cruz was freed on Tuesday. He is set to arrive in Manila on Thursday.

On Wednesday, 10 members of the Philippine contingent arrived in the country. Their team leader, Brigadier General Jovito Palparan arrived on Monday.
