MANILA, Nov. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Philippine Finance Secretary Jose Camacho on Friday confirmed his resignation from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's Cabinet, but gave no specific reason, only saying he was "physically, emotionally and financially exhausted" by the job.

"I'm happy the President has accepted it," he told reporters ata press conference.

According to sources at the presidential palace, Camacho's resignation will take effect at the end of this month.

Camacho, a former banker, said he had recommended to Arroyo that Finance Under secretary Juani to Amatong take his place.

he also said that he had told Arroyo about his plan of resignation as early as in July, but this was postponed after the failed July 27 mutiny by a group of military officers.

Opposition politicians have been demanding his resignation overallegations of graft but Camacho had dismissed the claims as baseless. Enditem
