Election season starts; 2004 bets file candidacy
By Veronica Uy
ELECTION season officially starts Wednesday, when candidates
for local and national positions may start filing their bids, the Commission on
Elections said Tuesday.
Lawyer Ferdinand Rafanan, Comelec spokesman, told INQ7.net that the period for the filing of candidacies would end on January 2.
The May 10, 2004 elections would be synchronized, Rafanan said, allowing voters to indicate their choices for president, vice president, senator, congressman (party-list or district representative), governor, vice governor, provincial board member, mayor, vice mayor, and councilor in one ballot.
At the same time, Rafanan said the screened voters' list would be available to everyone before the start of the campaign period for national posts on February 10.
