Filipino seaman killed in Japan blast to come home

THE REMAINS of the Filipino seaman who was killed in an explosion at a shipyard in Hiroshima, Japan would be returned to the country, a GMA 7 report said Thursday.

The remains of Anthony Batilaran will arrive on Friday, the report said.

A wake would be held in the victim's house in Cavite province before he is buried in Iloilo province, the victim's family said, the report said.

"That's the call of God. We can't blame anybody," said the victim's sister Rose Batilaran in an interview.

Since Batilaran was only a trainee, his employer would only pay for his burial and would not give any other benefits, the report said.

Another Filipino, Rolly Lagusad was injured in the explosion at the Nakatami shipyard, the report said.
