THE MILITARY on Monday seized what is believed to be one of the largest camps of the New People's Army in Quezon province, GMA Network station radio dzBB reported.

Reports reaching the office of Army Commanding General Gregorio Camiling Jr. were quoted as saying that the three-hectare camp was abandoned when the military conducted the raid.

The report said the NPA camp situated between the villages of Rosario and San Jose in Mauban town had six bunkers, a command post and eight foxholes.

The report added that the camp was also used as a training ground for NPA recruits.

Witnesses were quoted as saying that the NPA rebels left the camp more than two months ago as the military intensified its operations in the area.
